300 Singers Perform Beethoven's 9th Symphony 2016

A long-established seasonal tradition at the end of each year in Mito is the performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, with more than 300 singers taking part in the chorus. The members of the chorus, chosen through public subscription, start rehearsing in September. The concert is performed in the ATM Plaza underneath the symbolic Art Tower, with the voices of the giant chorus resounding through the city streets. The tradition began in 1999, making this the 16th year it has been held.
